Montaque Gill-Caesar to Leave Missouri
Sophomore basketball player Montaque Gill-Caesar will be transferring out of Missouri. Caesar, a top-50 prospect, averaged 9.1 PPG and 3.0 RPG last year as a freshman. During his freshman season, Gill-Caesar scored 15 points in five of the season’s first eight games. It is not known where he will transfer to; Gill-Caesar stated that he would “like to continue my college basketball career at a school where I am most comfortable”.
There had been rumblings about Gill-Caesar’s happiness for some time. Gill-Caesar, a Canadian, departed to try out for the Canadian U-20 team and did not return to Mizzou for offseason workouts. This was all for nothing, as Gill-Caesar did not try out for the Canadian U-20 team at all; He cited lingering back pain as his reason for doing so.
The 6’6″, 215 pound small forward is the second major transfer away from Missouri. Gill-Caesar’s departure, along with that of Johnathan Williams III, handicap an already struggling program; PG Wes Clark is only returning player with any sort of production, averaging 10 PPG.

It’s not hard to see why players chose to leave Missouri if they wish to compete; last season, the Tigers were 9-20, last in the Southeastern Conference in head coach Kim Anderson’s first year on the job. Gill-Caesar’s 246 total points were the second-most of any player on the 2014-15 squad, after Johnathan Williams III.
However, Gill-Caesar is the only Class of 2014 recruit to have left Missouri; Jakeenan Grant, D’Angelo Allen, Tramaine Isabell, and Namon are all on campus. In addition, Missouri is still on the recruiting trail. The Tigers have shown interest in 6’9″, 225 pound forward Andre Adams.
They are not alone. Missouri is one of 20 schools reported to have interest in the IMG Academy product. If Missouri is to nab Adams, they have some work to do, as he has attracted a lot of attention.
