The St. Louis Cardinals have been known for coming back this season. It seems like they do it once every series, they are down by a run or two late into the eighth or ninth inning, but somehow find a way to turn the tides, and win the game.

After losing a doubleheader to the Chicago Cubs, Cardinal fans were happy to see a four to two lead heading into the sixth. This lead wouldn’t last long though, as a few tough calls by the home plate umpire were missed, and the Cubs ended up scoring three runs in the sixth to gain a five to four lead. This lead would hold all the way until the ninth inning, where Chicago Cubs closer Pedro Strop retired the first two batters of the inning. The next batter was Matt Carpenter, who had been struggling in the game thus far. Carpenter used the great discipline he possesses to walk to first base. Hey it’s no home run, but sometimes all you need is a base hit right? Actually, it is a very right. The next batter was Jhonny Peralta,  who leads the Cardinals in home runs this year.

Pedro Strop threw a breaking curveball that hung right over the middle of the plate, and Peralta simply fouled the pitch off. Peralta then shook a look of frustration, knowing he had just missed his pitch.

But it did not matter, is the very next pitch, Strop threw a fastball over the middle of the plate and the video below shows what ensued:

Peralta silenced Wrigley Field in an instance. This gave the Cardinals a six to five lead, and ultimately a win.
