BREAKING: St Louis Blues Trade T.J. Oshie to Washington Capitals

twitterfacebookreddit

T.J. Oshie’s seven year run in St Louis has come to an end. The St Louis Blues traded Oshie to the Washington Capitals for Troy Brouwer and Pheonix Copley, which also includes a third round draft pick in the upcoming draft. Neither of these players are as well known as Oshie, but they can, and will, provide depth for the Blues in their never-ending quest to make it out of the first round of the playoffs.

Oshie is known worldwide since his amazing shootout performance in the 2014 Olympics. He Has been a huge positive for the Blues year in and year out, leading them in scoring most years. The trade comes at a surprise to few, as rumors had been floating around for quite some time of a possible move.

So where do the Blues go from here? The Blues continue to be one of the best teams in the league, but seem to struggle heavily once the playoffs begin. This trade doesn’t really add the needed push to propel the Blues to the Stanley Cup, so what are the Blues counting on to replace Oshie? If St Louis is indeed counting on rebuilding for another year or two, it would devastate fans, who every year feel they are so close to a Stanley Cup.

Twitter reacts to the trade:

Not too many fans seem distraught over Oshie’s departure, but they sure have enjoyed the time he spent there. It’s hard for me to complain about a Seahawk fan leaving town, but Oshie has left a great impression with not only St Louis Fans, but USA fans also.
