St. Louis Blues Announce Preseason Schedule
In what will likely be the last somewhat relevant St. Louis Blues news announced until the 2015-16 regular season schedule is revealed on June 22, the Blues’ preseason schedule for the upcoming season was announced on Tuesday.
A new addition to the preseason schedule is a set of split-squad games that will take place on September 22 with the Columbus Blue Jackets, with each team hosting a home game at the same time. This practice, which has been a staple of Major League Baseball’s spring training for many years, allows teams to evaluate twice the players in one short period of time. It’s especially effective in the early part of the preseason, when training camp rosters often exceed 60 or even 70 players, and quite frankly it’s surprising that it hasn’t become more of a widespread practice in the NHL.
