It’s mid-May, and the St. Louis Rams haven’t even gotten on the field yet for the official “Organized Team Activities” portion of their offseason program. With that said, many front offices have their 53-man roster pretty well penciled in before training camp even starts. That’s why, on a yearly basis, we see late-round picks or undrafted free agents star in preseason games and end up getting cut anyway as the roster is reduced to 53 players. While the Jeff Fisher/Les Snead administration is one of the more lenient in the NFL in terms of allowing guys to earn roster spots during training camp and the preseason, they still seem to go into training camp each season with a pretty well-set vision of what their regular season roster looks like.

Thus, I’ve compiled an early draft of what the Rams’ 53-man roster will look like come early September. Obviously, things could change, as there are preseason injuries that occur every year, and we could see a currently unsigned veteran (maybe Joe Barksdale?) added to the roster before training camp starts.

For reference, when I did this same exercise a year ago today, I guessed 45 of the 53 players on the Rams’ opening 53-man roster correctly. Let’s hope that another year of study of Jeff Fisher and Les Snead’s roster-building tendencies yield better results this year.
