The Cardinals will have their most untested catching depth in a while to start 2015, as there will be no big-league experience among the backstops likely to start the year with the Redbirds. Easley, a 29-year-old career minor-leaguer, will get a good chunk of the starts behind the plate for the second straight season with Memphis. Stanley, who hit .283 with 12 homers and 43 RBI with Double-A Springfield in 2014, will take his first shot at Triple-A and will likely split starts with Easley after being added to the 40-man roster this offseason. It’s an obvious platoon situation, as Stanley, a lefthanded hitter, could start against righties, with the righthanded-hitting Easley starting against lefthanded pitchers.

Travis Tartamella, a 27-year-old organizational catcher who has shifted between Memphis and Springfield for the past two seasons, will likely start the season with the Redbirds on the disabled list and provide depth as needed.
