Ranking the Top 15 Running Backs in the 2015 NFL Draft

11. Jeremy Langford, 6’0, 208, Michigan State
Langford is a safe if unspectacular pick who will be a reliable backup for an NFL team. He’s solidly built, has quick feet, and is very good at controlling his balance and navigating upfield near the sideline. While he’s better running outside the hashmarks, Langford does a better job of consistently picking up yards while running between the tackles than many backs in this class. Though he does seem to be prone to drops at times, he’s a solid receiver out of the backfield for the most part, and he’s a solid pass protector, even though his lack of strength limits him at times.
While Langford certainly has straight-line speed—he led all backs with a 4.42 40-yard dash at the combine—his biggest weakness is his lack of elite explosiveness, and his speed is rather static. He’s not a physical runner, and he doesn’t have tremendous elusiveness to make up for it.
Langford may not be the most highly-skilled running back in the class, but he’s a safe bet to be a contributory role player for the long term.
