T12. Cameron Artis-Payne, 5’10, 212, Auburn

Artis-Payne was basically a one-year wonder, having his first 1,000-yard season as a senior following the early departure of Tre Mason to the NFL. He took full advantage of the opportunity to start, becoming a first-team All-SEC running back while running for 1,608 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns.

Artis-Payne, a hefty back who’s built low to the ground, is a high-motor back who doesn’t go down easily and consistently fights for extra yards. He’s got some solid breakaway speed once he gets into the open field. He’s a solid receiver and a very good pass protector, which is always a good, marketable skill for a back who’s looking to distinguish himself.

On the other hand, Artis-Payne doesn’t make very quick cuts, and he doesn’t break off very many long runs. He’s also too hesitant in initiating his runs and is too cautious while attempting to make reads before hitting the hole. While he may not have the highest ceiling in the world, Artis-Payne’s ability to contribute as a role-playing back in the passing game may allow him to have a decent NFL career.
