T14. Mike Davis, 5’9, 214, South Carolina

Davis, a short but thick back, probably doesn’t have the skill set to be an every-down player, but he can be a solid role player in several facets. He’s a reliable receiver who can be an asset to the passing attack (though he needs to develop as a pass protector), and he’s got the physicality and tenacity necessary to be a very effective runner near the goal line.

Davis does have several noticeable weaknesses; he’s often too tentative in getting out of the backfield and lacks assertiveness in hitting the hole. There are too many instances where he gets brought down at or behind the line of scrimmage, and when he’s supposed to run to the outside he doesn’t get there as quickly as he probably should. Davis is rarely if ever going to break off huge runs, though he’s durable enough to pick up a lot of yardage through consistent short gains.
