14. Preston Smith, 6’5, 271, Mississippi State

Smith is a well-built prospect who projects as a natural 4-3 defensive end and could provide value as an interior pass rusher in a “NASCAR” package, which he did frequently at Mississippi State. He’s very quick out of his three-point stance, has well-developed pass rushing moves and knows how to use his hands. He does need to work on not making his size his enemy, as he often ended up too high after getting out of his stance. He also needs to focus on becoming more consistently assertive as a run defender. Smith probably projects as a rotational backup to start off, but he’ll provide immediate value to a team because of his ability to contribute all across the line in a 4-3 scheme.
