4. Mitch Harris, RHP

Just as is the case with Miguel Socolovich, Harris has a shot to be an in-season call-up due to his status as a righthanded reliever in an organization where there are not too many other viable righty relief options beyond the established big-leaguers. The Cardinals have a few guys with big-league experience on the payroll, including Socolovich, Sam Tuivailala, and Keith Butler, though none of them have done much to prove their worth in the majors during their brief careers.

With this in mind, Harris may get a shot out of the bullpen this season. Due to his military service, the former Naval lieutenant is overaged at 29 years old, and it was a bit of a slap in the face for the Cardinals to not offer him a 40-man roster spot this offseason, therefore exposing him to the Rule 5 Draft. However, Harris has pitched well and ascended quickly during his two years in the Cardinals’ system, and since he’s set to start the year in Triple-A this season, he could be a candidate for an in-season call-up, especially since Tuivailala is the only extra right-hander currently on the 40-man.
