Brandon McGee: After struggling as a rookie fifth-rounder in 2013, Brandon McGee had plenty of trouble once again in his second year as a pro. McGee got banged up during training camp and couldn’t stay on the field, which resulted in him losing a battle for Trumaine Johnson’s vacant starting spot to rookie E.J. Gaines.

McGee got some limited action at the beginning of the season, and he saw his most extensive duty in Week 2 when he was used as the nickelback in place of the injured Lamarcus Joyner. A foot injury kept bugging him, however, and he never got back on the field before being placed on injured reserve in Week 8.

It’s not like McGee was tremendously bad on the field this season, but if he can’t stay healthy, he’s not going to be able to assert himself, especially on a team that has built up as much solid secondary depth as the Rams have. He’ll face a real battle for a roster spot next season and probably will be no higher than sixth on the cornerback depth chart heading into training camp.
