St. Louis Rams Closing Evaluations: What Grades Do the Defensive Linemen Receive?
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports
The St. Louis Rams’ defensive line went into the 2014 season with extremely high expectations cast upon them. With fans and the team’s own marketing campaigns prematurely labeling the group “Sack City” before the season had even started, there was immense disappointment when the Rams became the worst pass-rushing defense in the history of the NFL over their first five games by collecting just one sack.
The Rams eventually put it together, as the team finished tied for 13th in the NFL with 40 sacks and Robert Quinn and Aaron Donald both had successful pass-rushing seasons that earned them Pro Bowl berths. With that said, 13th isn’t quite good enough to live up to the “Sack City” moniker, so 2014 must be considered a disappointment for the Rams’ defensive line.
Please advance through the next few pages to see what grades the Rams’ defensive linemen earned for their efforts during the 2014 season.
