St. Louis entrepreneurs Bob Blitz and Dave Peacock held a press conference at Union Station on Friday afternoon to unveil plans for a new riverfront stadium development in downtown St. Louis, which they’re hoping will be ready for 2020. While Peacock and Blitz have hopes that the stadium will be enough to prevent the St. Louis Rams from departing St. Louis and heading back to their former home of Los Angeles, they’re aware that owner Stan Kroenke already has one foot out of the door, which may make it a better bet for the city to try to acquire another NFL franchise, likely the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders, who are currently dissatisfied with their stadium situations in California.

Obviously, the topic of something that costs taxpayers extra money and significantly changes the landscape of a city is bound to create a wide variety of opinions. Here were some of the most interesting responses from some high-profile figures on Twitter regarding the stadium plans.

Many were extremely happy with the results of the press conference and came away more optimistic about the future of football in St. Louis:

St. Louis-based entrepreneur and Twitter superstar Matt Sebek was obviously extremely happy with Peacock’s efforts:

KMOX’s Tom Ackerman saw the opportunity for a new stadium in St. Louis as a chance for Kroenke to rediscover his roots as a native Missourian:

KSDK Sports’s Rene Knott pointed out that even if the Rams don’t buy into the St. Louis stadium plan, it could still be an attractive option for other NFL teams:

Others were more pessimistic about the proceedings:

SBNation’s Ryan Van Bibber doubted that the NFL would make a strong effort to save the NFL in St. Louis with Kroenke having created a strong stadium plan in L.A.:

Scout.com’s Nate Latsch doubted the likelihood of the financial plan for the stadium working out:

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller had a humorous take on the stadium plans and the likelihood of the team ending up in LA:

Numerous NFL writers, including Van Bibber, the Salt Lake Tribune’s Brennan Smith, and FanSided’s Zac Snyder, were very dissatisfied with the stadium plans:

The most dissatisfied customer of the day award, however, goes to Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who was clearly upset by the idea of playing in an outdoor stadium during the winter (and probably didn’t fully realize that the stadium wouldn’t open for six more seasons):

After fans blasted the cornerback for his complaints and threats, he responded rather harshly:

"I’m a grown man I speak as I please, if you don’t like it then hit the Unfollow button"
