St. Louis entrepreneurs Bob Blitz and Dave Peacock held a press conference at Union Station on Friday afternoon to unveil plans for a new riverfront stadium development in downtown St. Louis, which they’re hoping will be ready for 2020. While Peacock and Blitz have hopes that the stadium will be enough to prevent the St. Louis Rams from departing St. Louis and heading back to their former home of Los Angeles, they’re aware that owner Stan Kroenke already has one foot out of the door, which may make it a better bet for the city to try to acquire another NFL franchise, likely the San Diego Chargers or Oakland Raiders, who are currently dissatisfied with their stadium situations in California.
Obviously, the topic of something that costs taxpayers extra money and significantly changes the landscape of a city is bound to create a wide variety of opinions. Here were some of the most interesting responses from some high-profile figures on Twitter regarding the stadium plans.
Many were extremely happy with the results of the press conference and came away more optimistic about the future of football in St. Louis:
St. Louis-based entrepreneur and Twitter superstar Matt Sebek was obviously extremely happy with Peacock’s efforts:
KMOX’s Tom Ackerman saw the opportunity for a new stadium in St. Louis as a chance for Kroenke to rediscover his roots as a native Missourian:
Stan Kroenke could even gaze at the Stan Musial Bridge from the new stadium. And remember who he's named after. #STLNFL

KSDK Sports’s Rene Knott pointed out that even if the Rams don’t buy into the St. Louis stadium plan, it could still be an attractive option for other NFL teams:
You think folks with Raiders, Jags, and Chargers had an interest in today's newser? I think so. #STLNFL @KSDKSports

Others were more pessimistic about the proceedings:
SBNation’s Ryan Van Bibber doubted that the NFL would make a strong effort to save the NFL in St. Louis with Kroenke having created a strong stadium plan in L.A.:
Scout.com’s Nate Latsch doubted the likelihood of the financial plan for the stadium working out:
My quick thoughts on the stadium plan? It looks great, sounds great. But I'm skeptical about the financing plan including NFL team money.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller had a humorous take on the stadium plans and the likelihood of the team ending up in LA:
The new #Rams stadium will be a river boat that floats down the Mississippi, across the Panama Canal and up the coast to Los Angeles.

Numerous NFL writers, including Van Bibber, the Salt Lake Tribune’s Brennan Smith, and FanSided’s Zac Snyder, were very dissatisfied with the stadium plans:
Kroenke: "I'm buying a Ferrari" (LA Stadium
— Brennan Smith (@BrennanJSmith) January 9, 2015
Peacock: "How 'bout we go halfsies on a Toyota Corolla instead?" (St. Louis Stadium)
First impression of proposed new stadium in StL: looks like they're trying to do it on the cheap.

Hey Stan, check out these renderings that just as easily could be of a stadium from 20 years ago. Betcha want to stay now, right!!!

The most dissatisfied customer of the day award, however, goes to Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who was clearly upset by the idea of playing in an outdoor stadium during the winter (and probably didn’t fully realize that the stadium wouldn’t open for six more seasons):
It's nice but to stay n STL our stadium need to closed.. #LikeTheOld1Better pic.twitter.com/Zgfy1JVGZB

Stl rams plan to play football next year come late December early January.. #L.AorCloseTheNewRoof

After fans blasted the cornerback for his complaints and threats, he responded rather harshly:
"I’m a grown man I speak as I please, if you don’t like it then hit the Unfollow button"
