Missouri Tigers vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers: Start Time, Live Stream, TV Info and More
The Missouri Tigers cap off their 2014 football season on Thursday afternoon, playing the 8-4 Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl, whichis likely more recognizable to many college football fans as the CapitalOne Bowl, which it was known as from 2003 to 2014.
This game, which is one of five bowl games scheduled for New Year’s Day this year, will be the first New Year’s Day bowl game that Mizzou has played in since the 2008 Cotton Bowl Classic, in which they defeated Arkansas 38-7. The Tigers, who are 5-4 in bowl games under Gary Pinkel, have won their last two bowl games and haven’t lost one since they lost to Iowa in the Insight Bowl in 2010.
The 10-3 Tigers will be favored in Thursday’s matchup, as they have a better record than Minnesota this year and generally have faced better competition. However, Mizzou will have to find a way to deal with the loss of wide receiver Jimmie Hunt, whose college career ended one game prematurely in the SEC Championship Game, when he suffered an injury to a labrum in his shoulder. Hunt, who had 40 catches for 698 yards and seven touchdowns, was the Tigers’ second option in the passing game after Bud Sasser.

In his place, Mizzou will have to rely on players like senior Wesley Leftwich, freshman Nate Brown, and senior walk-on Gavin Otte. That trio has a combined eight catches for 64 yards this year.
In addition to Thursday being the final game in the Missouri program for a valued group of seniors, it will be the final one for defensive coordinator Dave Steckel, who is becoming the head coach at Missouri State. It may also be the last one for several underclassmen, the mostly likely of whom is defensive end Shane Ray, who has been projected by many as a top-five talent in this year’s NFL Draft.
