Projecting the St. Louis Cardinals’ 2014 Postseason Roster

Bullpen (8): Trevor Rosenthal, Pat Neshek, Sam Freeman, Seth Maness, Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha, Randy Choate, Jason Motte

The general belief is that Kevin Siegrist or Jason Motte is going to win the final bullpen spot. While neither has had a season that’s necessarily deserving of an appearance on a playoff roster, it looks like the decision will indeed come down to those two, judging on the way that Mike Matheny has used his bullpen in September, giving Siegrist and Motte significantly more chances than he’s given to guys like Nick Greenwood, Tyler Lyons, and Marco Gonzales.

Since Siegrist has been so dreadful all throughout this year, expect Motte to win the spot solely based on the fact that he’s coasted to a better finish than the young lefthander has.
