Staff Predictions for St. Louis Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys

Our Arch Authority staff is back once again to take a guess at the results of the St. Louis Rams and Dallas Cowboys’ Week 3 matchup. With arguably the most important players for Dallas on each side of the ball, Dez Bryant and Rolando McClain, possibly out for Sunday, it should be exciting to see how the Rams, who will likely start Austin Davis at quarterback again and probably will be without offensive contributors Tavon Austin and Cory Harkey, perform against an equally depleted squad.

Our group of four writers who have been participating weekly are a disappointing 2-6 thus far and will be looking to turn it around this week, although Paul Lamb has gotten off to an undefeated start at 2-0 by predicting against the field in both weeks. Here are our predictions for Week 3:

Shawn Campbell, Editor: “Austin Davis looks good, as do Brian Quick and Stedman Bailey, but the Rams are unable to contain DeMarco Murray, who runs for 150+ yards and 2 scores. Tony Romo turns the ball over a few times and Sack City makes its first appearance of the season, but the Rams fall to 1-2 with a loss to the Cowboys.” Cowboys 27, Rams 17

Patrick Karraker, Editor: “Even if Dez Bryant gets on the field for Dallas tomorrow, it’s difficult to see him being a huge impact player because of his injury. That leaves an aging Jason Witten as the Cowboys’ most threatening receiving option, which should make it significantly easier for the Rams to handle DeMarco Murray. I’m also banking on this being the week that Robert Quinn returns to form, which should be enough for the Rams defense to finally break out and live up to some of the hype that was bestowed on them this offseason.” Rams 27, Cowboys 10

Scott Criscione, Staff Writer: “I’m 0-2 picking this year. So the Cowboys have a defense that is as bad as the Maginot Line, and the Rams looked decent last week behind Austin Davis and Brian Quick. Still, the Rams are facing Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray. Hoping I go 0-3…” Cowboys 30, Rams 20

Paul Lamb, Staff Writer: “The Rams are feeling good coming off a win last week, but remember, it was the Bucs. Dallas comes in to St. Louis hot off a win against Tennessee, and with one of the top running backs in the league, DeMarco Murray. In his last two games against the Rams, Murray had 253 (franchise record) and 175 rushing yards. Running against the 3rd-worst rush defense in the league, and a team that gave up over 100 yards to a backup running back last week, Murray’s going to run through this wounded Rams D.” Cowboys 31, Rams 14
