University of Missouri Coach Kim Anderson suspended freshmen Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen after the two were arrested over the weekend for third degree assault.

"“We are aware of the situation involving Jakeenan Gant and D’Angelo Allen, and have suspended them from team-related activities as we gather more information,” Anderson said in a statement."

Gant was Mr. Georgia Basketball last season before transferring to School of the Osage in Lake Ozark, Mo. He remained committed to the Tigers after Coach Frank Haith left for a job at Tulsa.

Gant was a four-star prospect according to ESPN and ranked as the 53rd national prospect. Gant is expected to contribute this season in a front court lacking offensive ability.

Allen was one of the first players signed by Coach Kim Anderson, committing from Kimball High School in early May.

The suspensions are indefinite, but a timeline for their return has not yet been announced. This is the second off-the-court situation Anderson has dealt with since becoming the coach at Mizzou. In August, Torren Jones was dismissed from the team by Anderson for unspecified violations to team rules.

The Tigers struggled with off the court incidents in the past as well. A season ago guards Wes Clark and Shane Rector were arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana before the Tigers NIT game against Davidson. With Anderson at the helm, it would be nice to see the regularity of incidents increase at Missouri.
