St. Louis Rams Sign DE Kourtnei Brown to Practice Squad
According to his agency at ARN Sports, the St. Louis Rams have signed defensive end Kourtnei Brown to the practice squad. Brown fills the spot vacated earlier Wednesday when practice squad defensive tackle Matt Conrath was elevated to the 53-man active roster.
Brown spent the preseason with the Rams after being signed on the first day of training camp. Though he had limited playing time, he performed pretty well for a guy who was added to the roster very late, picking up three tackles over the course of the exhibition schedule.
Brown will be needed on the practice squad, as the Rams will need to restock their scout team following the loss of starting defensive end Chris Long to ankle surgery. That injury will result in backups William Hayes and Eugene Sims getting extended first-team reps, and it may even open up some playing time for rookie Ethan Westbrooks, who was inactive last week.
Brown, who played his college career at Clemson, has spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Redskins, though he has yet to spend time on an active roster.
