The True Meaning of the Loss of Sam Bradford for the St. Louis Rams
By Darrel Craig
Let me begin by stating that I have been an advocate of Sam Bradford since the beginning of his freshman year at the University of Oklahoma. Many of you are extremely happy with the loss of Bradford as the Rams quarterback, others are mixed in their feelings, and some are emotionally devastated like myself.
When Bradford was drafted #1 overall, the expectations were high for a 2-14 Rams franchise and he did not disappoint, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. Keep in mind that his best receiver over his tenure with the Rams to this point has been Donnie Avery, who is now in Kansas City. Bradford was part of the Steve Spagnuolo, Billy Devany era, or like I call it, the battered QB era, where they decided to draft a QB and no offensive line in front of him or receivers to throw to.
Bradford has had extreme bad luck and now, unfortunately, it has come to this…back-to-back left ACL tears, from which it is almost impossible to recover unless you are Kobe Bryant.
I have been a fan of Bradford since day one, so Sam: I’d like to apologize for the way you have been treated by some of our misguided and ignorant fans, and I will never understand what you are going through. It appears that your tenure with the St. Louis Rams has come to a screeching halt. I wish you the best of luck on your recovery, and I will be a fan wherever you end up and pray for your success.
Rams fans, I know this sounds familiar from 1999, but “We will rally around Shaun Hill and play good football.” Let’s Go Rams!
