Optimism Turning Into Concern for Rams’ Bradford

After injuring his surgically repaired left knee during the first quarter of the St. Louis Rams third preseason game, Sam Bradford walked off the field under his own power and showed signs of optimism. That optimism has turned into concern less than 24-hours after Bradford’s injury and has some believing that he has again torn the ACL in his left knee.

Initial tests were thought to show no tear in the repaired ACL, but that thought is now in doubt, as is Bradford’s season.

Coach Jeff Fisher seemed optimistic after the Rams preseason game, stating, “I can’t speculate but it appeared just to be a hyperextension of the same knee.”

With Bradford’s condition unknown, the Rams quickly pulled many of their starters, as well as backup QB Shaun Hill. Hill has looked capable during his limited reps this preseason and performed decently when he’s had the chance in past seasons, but a Bradford injury could be a tumultuous start to an important season for Bradford, Jeff Fischer, and Les Snead.

Fisher may be on the hot seat next season if the Rams are unable to get over the  .500 hump yet again, and Snead will be in a precarious position with the unknown future of the QB position for the Rams.

Bradford is scheduled for an MRI and his condition will be updated  during a Sunday press conference at 5pm, but the seemingly light hit may be a big blow for the St. Louis Rams.
