John Lackey‘s first start as a Cardinal was a welcome sign to Cardinal fans and something that hopefully is a sign of a great postseason run to come. Lackey went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and four strikeouts.
it started off rough after Lackey gave up a run in each of the first 2 innings, but he calmed down and operated a very efficient quality start. After scoring 9 runs last night, the Cardinals only managed 3 today, but it came in a 3-2 win, and a big win, bringing the Cardinals back to within 1 game of the NL Central-leading Brewers.Matt Hollidaycontinued his hot streak with another homerun, andOscar Taverasadded an RBI single in the Cardinals 3 run 7th inning.Trevor Rosenthaladded his league leading 34th save. Now the Cardinals have to keep the charge going as they take on the Boston Red Sox to start next week.
