Wainwright, Cardinals Continue to Struggle in Loss to Brewers
By Darrel Craig
The St. Louis Cardinals’ struggles continued on Friday night, as they have now lost 7 out of 10 games.
The final score of 7-4 doesn’t truly depict how the game went, as Adam Wainwright struggled just as mightily as the Cardinal offense did. Wainwright, now 13-6 on the season, struggled from the beginning and the Cardinals’ lackluster offense could not recover.
The issue that I have here is not that Wainwright had a bad game for the first time in forever; it’s the fact that he had a bad game and his offense could not back him up with some runs. The Cardinals didn’t tally a run until Matt Holliday‘s solo homerun in the sixth, which made it 7-1. They made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth, but could not complete the comeback, losing 7-4 and falling to 3 games back of the NL Central leading Brewers.
I know eventually the Cardinals offense will return to form, but until then, this is extremely frustrating to myself and all Cardinal fans.
