Why St. Louis Cardinals’ Oscar Taveras is Ready for a Starting Role
By Darrel Craig
Cardinal fans everywhere will be thanking management for trading Allen Craig. Why, you might ask? Two words: Oscar Taveras.
Folks, this kid is going to be an absolute stud and superstar. His numbers since coming up from the minors do not support my feelings as of now, but that is due to a lack of being played, which in return has prevented him from adjusting to the Major Leagues.
John Mozeliak has gone on the record to say that Taveras is going to be the next Albert Pujols that has come out of our farm system, and that is a huge statement. He is a menace on the base paths and has serious pop, as he displayed in the 2nd inning today against the San Diego Padres. The only true dilemma for Mike Matheny is what spot in the lineup to bat him in, but if that is the only problem, then there is no significant problem.
St. Louis fans, pay real close attention to this kid, as he is going to play a major role down the stretch and for years to come.
