Ranking St. Louis Blues Offseason Moves from Least to Most Impactful

10. Benn Ferriero, C/RW
27 years old, signed as UFA to one-year, $600K/$200K two-way contract
Ferriero, who has accumulated 14 goals and 9 assists over the course of five NHL seasons with the San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks, figures to replace the departed Keith Aucoin as a veteran center who can go to the AHL and be ready if the Blues suffer a deficit at the position. Aucoin was an important part for the Blues to have around late in the season when injuries ravaged the team and left nearly all their centers injured. Ferriero will look to provide that same type of insurance this year and will hopefully be able to contribute some offensive help if he is called upon. With Vladimir Sobotka having departed to the KHL, it’s now more likely that the Blues will have to bring in reinforcements to help at the center position during some point in the 2014-15 season, so Ferriero is a nice guy to have in the system.
