4. Patrik Berglund, C/LW

26 years old, re-signed as RFA to three-year, $11.1M contract

Berglund hasn’t always lived up to expectations during his Blues career, but he took a step forward in 2013-14 and will look to continue that upward ascent. We’ve pretty much established that he’ll never be a front-line goal-scorer, but Berglund is a steady offensive contributor nonetheless and has pretty consistently delivered at least 30 points per season. The biggest area in which he improved last year is covering defensively, and he was also able to show some versatility as he saw action at left wing for the first extended period time.

Look for Berglund to get more time at the wing during the 2014-15 season. If he could only show some more physicality with that 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, he could fulfill the expectations that come with that expensive new deal.
