Rams Free Agency: Cap Issues and Slim Pickings
Going into free agency the Saint Louis Rams have an estimated $7-million in cap space. With the rise in cap space to $133-million, it gives the Rams some wiggle room to maneuver in free agency, though not a lot. The moves that will be made will more likely be restructuring deals with players that are taking a large chunk of the cap space. Players like Harvey Dahl, and Cortland Finnegan will most likely be the targets for those deals, which would potentially shave off some money that could be used for rookie deals.

There won’t be much the Rams could/should go after this off-season, since they won’t be able to afford the top-tier talents in the positions in need. However by showing their willingness to go after top-tier players, it may give fans a sign that the team is attempting to address their needs. Though this remains a relatively weak field of free agents in comparison to years past. That may boast well since this is a very deep draft, and thus, could possible lower the price tag for some free agents. Look for the Rams to pass on any serious bids for the top free agents, but they will still be in the running for one or two free agents.
