Blues Trade Halak For Ryan Miller in 5 player trade
Earlier tonight Buffalo held Ryan Miller out of their game earlier this evening, and now we know why. It is official, the Buffalo Sabres trade Ryan Miller and Steve Ott, in exchange they get:
To Sabres: Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart, William Carrier, and a 2015 first-round pick and conditional 2016 third-round pick.
To Blues: Ryan Miller, Steve Ott.
The move is a big gamble for the St. Louis Blues, who have been one of the top teams in the NHL this season. The Move for Miller comes at a time where the team is in need of a wake up after a long Olympic break and boy did Doug Armstrong deliver. The move is bold because it cost draft picks and in return banks on Miller being able to bring the Blues to the Stanley Cup. After this season ends both Ott and Miller are free agents. This is a move that says to the Blues players, “Win Now!”
Buffalo might come out as the big winners in the long haul, this move hinges all on the Blues winning the Stanley Cup or at least getting to one. If Miller doesn’t re-sign next season with the Blues, this deal will look very bad on what has been a near perfect record of Doug Armstrong.
