On Wednesday, Jaime Garcia got news on his injured shoulder. According to John Mozeliak, the news was very good. Here is an excerpt from the article.
"Garcia is expected to return to the camp on Thursday. He will give the shot a few days to take effect — that is usual — and then begin his throwing program anew, pain permitting. He will be several weeks behind the other starters, and Mozeliak made the point that he is trying for a job “in a very competitive camp.”Mozeliak did label the diagnosis and treatment as “good news” and “encouraging.” It is likely that the treatment won’t stop with the shot and that Garcia will have to continue to modify a strengthening program to maintain the shoulder’s health. He will have to find a way to pitch through some issues to stay in the rotation."
John Mozeliak did say that there is the potential that Garcia’s role with the Cardinals could change.
My Take
I think this is great news. All Cardinals fans want the team to win but Cardinals fans do not wish that a player’s career is over. Now Garcia isn’t out of the woods by any imagination but at least it’s not career ending.
