There are few moments in sports that are watershed moments that change the way we view the world of sports altogether. Michael Sam on Sunday announced that he is gay. Michael Sam was a first team All-American in 2013 for Mizzou and could be a first round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter.

NFL player, NBA player, Band kid, or the most popular kid in school...it doesn't matter. Be you, straight or not. Respect Michael Sam ✊

Don't underestimate the significance of what Michael Sam has done by announcing he's gay. He's backed the NFL into a corner. Good for him.

No, it *shouldn't* matter that Michael Sam is gay, but it does matter. If you don't understand that, then it's because you don't need to.

Good for Michael Sam. Now only if Mizzou fans would learn "gayhawk" is neither clever or an insult we'd be making real progress.

I hate Mizzou with all my heart. Just not tonight. Way to go, Michael Sam. You're the man.
