In the press conference introduce newly signed shortstop Jhonny Peralta, St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak had this to say about Peralta and PED use:
"“I don’t think it’s the Cardinals responsibility necessarily to be the morality police on potentially future employment.”"
I think he is right to an extent. We all make mistakes and whether or not we want to admit it, we all take shortcuts. Does it tainted the successes that you have attained? No. Jhonny Peralta is a talented baseball player. He did some questionable things, however he is worth the money and the risk to upgrade offensively at shortstop. Here are some Twitter reactions to the comment made by the Cardinals GM:
John Mozeliak getting blasted for signing Peralta for SS. PED's aside, 4 years for $50 million for a 31 year old? Bad deal in two years.

Adding PED cheat Jhonny Peralta, GM John Mozeliak declared Cardinals aren't MLB morality "police," they're just baseball's Fun Police.

I hate the Cardinals, but John Mozeliak is by far the best GM in baseball #respect

Strong feelings on both sides of the argument on Jhonny Peralta but the deal is done. He is a Cardinal and if I know anything about Cardinals fans, they will embrace Peralta as one of their own.
