The Illinois Fighting Illini had a tough task in front of them on Saturday morning. They were a 2-10 team last year with no wins against a team from an automatic qualifier conference. Add in their opponent was the Cincinnati Bearcats who destroyed the Purdue Boilermakers 42-7, the Illinois Fighting Illini didn’t look like they had much of a chance.

That’s why they play the game.

The Illinois Fighting Illini shocked the Big 10 world by destroying the Cincinnati Bearcats 45-17. Nathan Scheelhause went 26 for 37 for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns. Scheelhaase also added 24 yards on the ground. The Illini added 210 rushing yards for a total of 522 yards of offense.

Unfortunately for the Cincinnati Bearcats, the hits just kept coming when Munchie Legaux suffered a gruesome leg injury and while I don’t want to speculate, I fear that he may be out for the season.

The Illini will play the Washington Huskies next Saturday at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. Kickoff is set for 5pm central time. The Washington Huskies are coming off an impressive rout of the Boise State Broncos so this will be a huge test for the Illini.
