One of the major stories last week in St. Louis was Cardinals legend Jack Clark went on the radio and stated that he knew for a fact that Albert Pujols was using steroids. Well, things have gotten a little crazy. After Clark made that statement, Albert Pujols threatened legal action, newly minted 920 AM ended up firing Jack Clark and his co-host Kevin Slaten, Kevin Slaten decided to sue the radio station for wrongful termination and Jack Clark has decided to hire an attorney as well.
But let’s go back to the beginning to what Jack Clark said. He said he was told by the personal trainer of Albert Pujols that he was juicing. Is Jack Clark telling the truth? It’s tough to say. Former Pujols trainer Chris Mihlfeld says he didn’t give Pujols anything.
I think there is reasonable suspicion to believe that Albert Pujols used steroids.
Of course his former trainer is going to deny any involvement. Mihlfeld could not only face a ban from major league baseball but face legal action as well. Pujols isn’t going to admit it because he would lose his contract and his reputation would be tainted. I mean a 13th round pick and a year and a half later is tearing it up in the major leagues? How did everyone miss this through all their scouting?
No, I don’t have proof and with steroids, it’s a tough thing to prove because no one talks. Stepping back from the Pujols situation, how quickly he got to the majors and how he dominated the league in his first season. It’s definitely a little fishy.
