The St. Louis Rams lost their first preseason game to the Cleveland Browns 27-19 in Cleveland, Ohio. Here are some observations that I made.
– I know it’s a preseason game but it’s very concerning that the Rams really had no answer for the Browns in the first half. 287 total yards in the first half and the Browns scored on their first four drives. The real back breaker was when the Browns returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown. I mean Travis Benjamin went untouched. Not good.
– Sam Bradford was out there for 3 drives. It was decent out there. He made a big time pass to Chris Givens and rewarded Givens with a touchdown catch. Kellen Clemens was meh. Austin Davis was solid and made a few deep passes but nothing spectacular. If Davis continues to take care of the football, I can see him jumping Kellen Clemens and being the backup QB.
– Tavon Austin was MIA. A little disappointed in that.
– Nothing noteworthy from the running game. It looks like Zac Stacy will get some playing time as the Rams second running back but that was to be expected. So the question becomes who gets the 1,000 yards for the Rams? I still think it’s Daryl Richardson because he is a home run threat and will have a chance to break off some big runs.
