Despite losing 6 straight games to Division leaders and a losing record to above .500 teams, the Cardinals decide to stand pat with the current team makeup and must believe this team is good enough to make the World Series on it’s own.

The Cardinals only move was trading Marc Rzepczynski to the Cleveland Indians for an middle infielder prospect. However, no deal was made to add major league players to the 25 man roster.

This move and the next week of games will define the 2013 St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are in free fall and look overmatched against elite competition. It might be a slump but it might just be what the Cardinals might be. Tonight, the Cardinals will have their ace on the mound as Adam Wainwright will face off against Jeff Locke who is having a Cy Young caliber year. Wainwright will have to pitch a near perfect game if the Cardinals want to win with the lack of offense in this losing streak.

We’ll see if this move pays off for the Cardinals, but I’m not holding my breath.
