There are 3 days until the the MLB Trade Deadline. Here are the latest rumors involving the St. Louis Cardinals in last minute trade deals.

– Let’s start with Jake Peavy. It seems that outside of the Cardinals, the Braves, the Athletics, and the Red Sox are in the mix for Jake Peavy. It looks like the White Sox are going to deal him before the trade deadline so in the next few days, expect the teams involved to make a final proposal around Tuesday and the winner will get Jake Peavy.

– Alexei Ramirez to the Cardinals seems unlikely at this point. Never say never but I wouldn’t bet on it.

– The biggest question surrounding the Cardinals are if they will actually make a move. Bernie Miklask says it’s appears unlikely that the Cardinals will make a blockbuster trade. The reason? GM John Mozeliak doesn’t want to deal one of his superstar prospects. While I do agree with that, I have my reservations. Pete Kozma is an elite defensive shortstop. Unfortunately, his poor production on offense is costing this team. While his RBIs are outstanding, he isn’t getting on base that much. His average is .242 but his on base percentage is only .285. Unlike in the American league, the Cardinals don’t have the designated hitter. The pitcher spot is almost a guaranteed out. If you are batting 8th in the lineup and can’t get on base, you are hurting the chances of any run production that inning. I believe the Cardinals need a bat and an arm for a run at a 12th World Series.
