The Cardinals once again lose to an above .500 baseball team. This time they lose to the Atlanta Braves 2-0. They have lost the series against the Atlanta Braves and fall to 14-18 against teams above .500.

The Cardinals in this series against the Atlanta Braves have only managed 1 run on 6 hits in 2 games. The Cardinals only managed to get 2 hits in the entire game on Saturday. Joe Kelly should get a lot of credit for not letting the Braves get anything going. Kelly pitched 6.1 innings and gave up 7 hits but didn’t allow a run. It was just unfortunate that Julio Teheran also pitched a heck of a game as well. Teheran went 7 innings giving up the only two hits of the game.

If the Cardinals want to be taken seriously as a World Series team, 14-18 against teams above .500 isn’t going to scare anyone. For comparision, the Atlanta Braves are 19-13 against teams above .500. The Cardinals have to improve against winning ball clubs.

The Cardinals will try to avoid the sweep tomorrow night as the Cardinals will be on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. The game will begin at 7:00pm central time.
