The St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Chicago Cubs 6-4 on Saturday night. The Cardinals will play on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball tomorrow night to try and salvage a 2-2 split.
The Cardinals were able to strike first in the top of the 2nd inning when Tony Cruz singled to left field, scoring Matt Adams. The Cubs then scored 6 straight runs. The Cardinals mounted a comeback by scoring in the 7th, 8th and 9th inning of the game. Unfortunately the St. Louis Cardinals only score one run in each of those innings and weren’t able to produce any more runs.
John Jay went 4-5 with 1 run batted in and 1 run scored. Matt Adams also contributed to the Cardinals attack going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored.
Adam Wainwright will be the starter tomorrow for the St. Louis Cardinals as he tries to shut down this Cubs lineup that has scored 3 or more runs in 6 of their last 8 games.
