The St. Louis Cardinals were blown out by the Los Angeles Angels in their first matchup against former teammate Albert Pujols at Angel Stadium at Anaheim on Tuesday night. The Cardinals fall to 49-33 on the season.

The Cardinals fell behind early against the high powered offensive attack of the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels scored all 5 of their runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The Angels were able to get the entire lineup an at bat in the 2nd inning. Josh Hamilton started the 2nd inning off with a single and then the Angels were able to hit up Lance Lynn (L, 10-3) for 6 hits. A costly throwing error by Matt Carpenter added salt to the wound as the final run the Angels scored. The Cardinals were not able to get the clutch hit leaving 8 men on base.

The storyline of Albert Pujols versus the St. Louis Cardinals proved to be melodramatic. Albert went 0-3 with 2 strikeouts. The Cardinals will go again tomorrow night as Shelby Miller faces off against Jerome Williams. First pitch is set for 9:05pm central.
