While they were perhaps the biggest question mark among the team’s position groups heading into the 2014 season, the St. Louis Rams’ safeties emerged as the most successful all-around position group by the end of the year.

Starters T.J. McDonald and Rodney McLeod both made marked improvements this season after struggling in their respective first campaigns as starters in 2013, and they ended up being the organization’s best safety duo since the early 2000s. Midseason trade acquisition Mark Barron further boosted the defense as a hard-hitting utilityman, and Cody Davis and Maurice Alexander both made solid contributions as special-teamers.
