The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Houston Astros 5-2 behind a great pitching performance by Michael Wacha. Wacha struckout eight Astros in just seven innings pitched before he gave way to the bullpen. While his opposing pitcher, Brett Oberholtzer, gave up four early runs in the first-inning.

Matt Adams was first to get runs on the board with a two-run double. He would then add asolo homerun later in the game. The hottest prospect arguable for the Cardinals, Stephen Piscotty, continues his great hitting by driving in a run in the first. He is now hitting .333 this spring after going 1-4 today with a double. Tony Cruz also got an RBI in the first inning and looks to be the backup catcher behind Yadier Molina for the Cardinals again this season.

The Cardinals are now 9-10-2 this spring and are starting to get the final roster down to size in loom of opening day in just nine days.

One final note: Brand new prospect Aledmys Diaz got a hit in today’s game and went 1-3 with a single. He will most likely be moved to the minor league camp near Spring Training’s end.
