The Fansided 2014 NFL Mock Draft for Week 14 have been released. With the regular season winding down and the playoff hopes for the Rams fading fast, it’s time to look to the future and see who the St Louis Rams might take in the 2014 NFL Draft.

In this NFL Mock Draft, the Rams would pick 3rd overall (pick from Washington Redskins) and 15th overall.

With the 3rd pick of the NFL Draft, the St Louis Rams select Jake Matthews from Texas A&M.

Here is their analysis of the pick:

"The St. Louis Rams are showing signs of life after loading up their roster with talented offensive weapons, but they will need to protect their quarterback to make sure he has the necessary time to deliver them the ball. Sam Bradford was showing signs of improvement before suffering a torn ACL to end his season, so the Rams will need to do everything in their power to keep him healthy next season if they want to take the next step. One way to do that would be adding the top offensive tackle in this year’s draft — Jake Matthews"

My Take:

I hate that pick. Okay, maybe hate is a strong word. Strongly dislike that pick. Sure it would make sense at that position. Teddy Bridgewater and Jadeveon Clowney would go 1 or 2 and then after that not much else. It seems every year wherever the Rams are going to pick, there is no sure fire elite NFL prospect to take. It’s tough to determine what type of prospect Jake Matthews can be at the professional level. The Rams need playmakers. Adding another offensive lineman isn’t going to make the Rams more dynamic, it’s going to make them more bland.
