6. New York Jets- P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State

After selecting Darrelle Revis, Kyle Wilson, and Dee Milliner in the past eight years, it’s becoming a bit of a tired act for the Jets to continue taking cornerbacks in the first round. With that said, they still seem dedicated to justifying the Geno Smith pick of two years ago, so quarterback isn’t a real possibility here, and they don’t really have any other overwhelming needs to address at this pick.

Williams doesn’t have the highest ceiling of any corner in this draft—that honor goes to Miami of Ohio one-year wonder Quinten Rollins—but he’s a well-sized, athletic corner with incredible drive that will be very reliable in coverage. He’ll take some of the pressure off of Milliner to come back and be a number one corner (which he certainly wasn’t before his season-ending injury in 2014), and he will be a more substantial solution than the Jets’ starting corner duo of Marcus Williams and Darrin Walls that ended this past season.
