31. Seattle Seahawks- Mario Edwards, Jr., DT/DE, Florida State

Seattle could use a defensive tackle, considering that their best player at the position, Brandon Mebane, just turned 30 years old and is coming off a season-ending hamstring injury. In addition, Tony McDaniel also turned 30 recently, while 12-year veteran Kevin Williams will be 35 next season and is an impending free agent.

The 6-foot-3, 294-pound Edwards will be a bit of a project, as he’s expected to transition to the defensive tackle position at the next level after playing a lot off the edge at Florida State. However, he has some marketable skills, as he’s a high-motor player who is going to put himself in position for plenty of second-effort sacks, and he is very athletic for a defensive tackle.

The ideal NFL scheme fit for Edwards would be Seattle, as the Seahawks’ coaching staff has shown an affinity for using 300-pounders as 4-3 ends at times. Edwards could effectively replace Red Bryant, who was released after 2013, contributing as an end on running downs and from the interior on passing plays.
