Vladimir Tarasenko to Appear on Cover of EA Sports’s NHL 17

It was announced at the NHL’s annual awards show on Wednesday that St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko will appear on the cover of EA Sports’s NHL 17. Tarasenko was up against San Jose Sharks center Joe Pavelski in the finals of a bracket-style tournament that is determined by fan voting, and he ultimately got the edge over the captain of the team that beat his Blues in the Western Conference Finals.

Tarasenko is the second Blues player ever to be featured on the video game’s cover, and the first to appear on it since 1999. Defenseman Chris Pronger was the cover athlete for NHL 2000 after he had broken out as one of the league’s elite blueliners during the previous season.
