The St. Louis Blues will try to take their first 3-1 lead in a playoff series since the 2011-12 season when they face the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

The St. Louis Blues face the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night at United Center, and if all goes right for them, it could be the last game they have to play in Chicago during this series. The Blues created some pretty significant momentum on Sunday afternoon by coming back to win Game 3, which provided them with a 2-1 edge in the series. They’ve still held Patrick Kane (46 goals in 2015-16) and Jonathan Toews (28 goals this season) without a goal in the series, so if Brian Elliott can continue doing his job, the Blues definitely look like they have a fighting chance in a series that many NHL analysts have suggested pits the Western Conference’s two best teams against each other.

If the Blues can pull off a win in Chicago on Tuesday, it would be the first time that the franchise has taken a commanding 3-1 lead in a playoff series since they rebounded from a Game 1 loss to win four straight in their 2011-12 first round series with the San Jose Sharks. Even though this is just a first-round series, a Game 4 win would be an absolutely huge step for the Blues in changing the recent postseason culture, as they’ve lost first-round series in six games for each of the past three years. The Blackhawks’ unbelievable ferocity and competitiveness would still make things tough, but at least a Game 4 win would guarantee the Blues an opportunity for a Game 7 and end the streak of six-game eliminations.

The personnel situation should be interesting on Tuesday, as Ken Hitchcock will more than likely stick with his same lineup, as he’s been prone to do following wins this season, but Joel Quenneville will probably switch things up, as he’s done for every game thus far in this series.
