With their AHL club finished for the season, the St. Louis Blues decided to bring back one of the many players they’ve used this season, recalling Ty Rattie.

With the AHL Chicago Wolves’ 2015-16 season having ended Saturday night with a 4-2 win over the Iowa Wild at Allstate Arena, it was quite convenient for the St. Louis Blues to recall forward Ty Rattie as the team gets set to face the Blackhawks in Chicago Tuesday night for Game 4 of their first-round playoff series.

Rattie, who impressed in spot action with the team earlier this season, spent most of the 2015-16 season playing with the Wolves, for whom he scored 17 goals and added 29 assists in 62 games. In 13 games for the Blues, the 23-year-old Rattie had four goals, two assists, and a plus-1 rating.

With Steve Ott, Ryan Reaves, Dmitrij Jaskin, and Magnus Paajarvi all seemingly ahead of Rattie on the forward depth chart, it’s difficult to see him getting any postseason playing time, but crazy things can happen during the course of a long playoff run, so it’s not a total impossibility. Since the Blues now have 16 forwards, eight defensemen, and three goalies, Rattie will likely be the last official addition to the team’s roster this spring, though they might bring in a practice squad of “black aces” from their AHL club at some point. Those players would work out at the NHL facility and stay prepared in case they’re needed later on.
