The St. Louis Blues, who have won five straight games while allowing just one goal, will attempt to extend that streak as they host the Boston Bruins on Friday.

The St. Louis Blues host the Boston Bruins at Scottrade Center on Friday night, wrapping up a brief two-game homestand but continuing a stretch of five home dates over their final eight regular season games. The Blues will be looking to continue an amazing streak during which they’ve won five straight and allowed just one goal over the entire stretch.

Though a team shutout streak of 258:29 ended on Tuesday night, the Blues still won 3-1 and showed that they’re a force to be reckoned with defensively, even as fill-ins Robert Bortuzzo and Petteri Lindbohm replaced regular defensemen Jay Bouwmeester and Carl Gunnarsson.

In one prior meeting this season on December 22, the Blues defeated the Bruins 2-0 thanks to a shutout from Jake Allen and goals from Vladimir Tarasenko and Robby Fabbri. The Bruins have had a rough month of March, going 6-7-2 while averaging just 1.43 goals per game over their last seven. Then again, the Blues have had some struggles recently when facing lesser teams, losing back-to-back games earlier this month to the Calgary Flames (fourth-worst record in the Western Conference) and Edmonton Oilers (tied for worst in the NHL) by a combined score of 13-8. They’ve also struggled against the Eastern Conference this year, going 15-10-5 (.583) against them compared to a much more favorable 31-12-4 (.702), so there’s no reason that the Blues should get comfortable against Boston, even with their existing winning streak.

The Blues will have to play without Robby Fabbri, who suffered a lower-body injury on Tuesday, for the first time since October 24. He’ll be replaced by either Magnus Paajarvi or Dmitrij Jaskin on a line with Paul Stastny and Troy Brouwer. The rest of the Blues’ lineup is expected to remain the same, and Brian Elliott will remain in goal, looking to continue an amazing stretch which has seen him give up just one goal in his past four games.
