The Mizzou Women’s soccer took the Mississippi State Bulldogs to a double overtime draw on Sunday. Savannah Trujillo scored Missouri’s lone goal, continuing her scoring streak and raising her season total to four. In the 12th minute, Trujillo put a shot into the keeper and tapped the rebound into the net.

Mississippi State would tie it up in the 39th minute. Substitute Kennedy Carbine took a loose corner kick and put it past goalkeeper Kristen Rivers.

Both teams combined for 12 shots in the match; Mizzou took seven shots to Mississippi State’ five. The Tigers had multiple chances to put the match away in the second half. In the 64th minute, Jessica Johnson (who had assisted Trujillo in the 12th minute) ricocheted a shot off the crossbar from inside the box. Deep into overtime, Trujillo had the chance to assist Lauren Seladien in the 106th minute, but Seladien’s shot bounced off the left post.

More from Missouri Tigers

The star, obviously, was Savannah Trujillo. Her fourth goal of the season was a career high, and she is in position to net even more goals. The Tigers are set to go deep into SEC play for the rest of the season, and Missouri surely can beat the rest of their opponents.

The Tigers’ next game is Friday at home against Ole Miss. The Rebels are currently 2-2-0 against the SEC, good enough for sixth in the conference.
