St. Louis Blues Send Ty Rattie Back to AHL Chicago Wolves

After a brief but beneficial five-game stint in the NHL, the St. Louis Blues have reassigned 22-year-old forward Ty Rattie to the AHL Chicago Wolves. The move is expected to clear way for center Jori Lehtera, who has missed the past six games with concussion symptoms, to return for Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Rattie, who had gotten his feet wet in the NHL last season with a two-game stint at the end of the regular season, looked more prepared for the high level of competition this time around. Playing on the third line alongside Dmitrij Jaskin, Rattie was able to create some solid opportunities. He picked up the first point of his NHL career on Thursday night in Buffalo, adding an assist on Jaskin’s goal.

More from St. Louis Blues

Rattie, who is considered the Blues’ most NHL-ready forward prospect, finished with just that one point over five games, but he had an overall plus-minus rating of plus-1, an improvement over his minus-2 rating in two games last year.

Now he’ll head back to Chicago, where he has 17 goals and 11 assists in 43 games this year, and continue to develop his skill set. However, with his recent NHL stint, he’s positioned himself as the Wolves’ top option for a call-up if further injuries occur among the Blues’ forward corps this season. He’s likely to receive another promotion down the road this year, whether it be after rosters expand following the trade deadline or after the Wolves’ season ends and the Blues call up minor-leaguers en masse to St. Louis.
